Last week, we talked about Wale, Andrew, and Gijo building a clinical trial finder, https://clinical-trial-finder.railsfever.co. Let’s talk about Andrew, Jerome, Michael, and Julien’s work. As a team of four they came together to build the intersection between genomics and privacy, something that we all work to focus on. Here’s one of our facilitators from our premier sponsor IONOS, Isayah Young-Burke with the details:
“Another team, including Andrew Maza, Jerome Barnes, Michael Trang, and Julien G. from Proscia, explored a privacy first approach to genomic sequencing. Their concept centered around a powerful question:
What would it look like to design a consumer genomic workflow that prioritizes privacy from day one?
They proposed a protocol and system design focused on interpreting genomic data securely, preventing unnecessary data sharing, and addressing concerns around insurance risk and misuse of personal genetic data.”
1. That’s pretty cool to see them work towards an ambitious project in one day. 2. It’s amazing how it inspired one of our premier sponsors about the purpose behind show and tell.

Housekeeping:
Our March Happy Hour is this week 5:30 at The Post https://luma.com/ld3o564m. After The Philly Startup Expo you can swing by afterwards and talk!
If you know of any startup in the Philadelphia/Greater Delaware Valley region that’s in the intersection of Tech (AI, Data Science, Simulation, hardware, etc.), and Biology in any/all sense (medicine, plants, veterinary, molecular, etc.), or even on the Chemistry side, tell them to DM me.
Events:
Our collaborators, Code and Coffee, are hosting the Philly Startup Expo! https://www.meetup.com/code-coffee-philly/events/312944007/ It ends 30 minutes after our Happy Hour starts so after the event come on over!
Animal-related, but not necessarily Life Science, there’s a Greater Philadelphia Pet Expo - Philly Expo Center happening this weekend.
