Hello everyone,

Welcome to the preview Bits in Bio Philadelphia Newsletter for this year. Our normal newsletter will come out tomorrow, but I wanted to prepare you with our transition. Over the last year, I used my personal email, and that was great. Except for the times where Outlook would constantly flag my emails as spam (which makes sense in practice but also made things a bit unmanageable).

Right now, we decided on using Beehiiv as the platform of choice. It can handle our outbound newsletter, subscribers, and it’s pretty nifty. It also means that now if you want to politely unsubscribe, you can (no hurt feelings).

I want to take this time to introduce our two new co-captains:

Omnia Abdelraheem: Omnia Abdelraheem,, senior computer science student at Temple University and an app developer at Siemens Healthineers, passionate about building impactful software, learning new technologies, and collaborating with others.

Sarah Burke: As a neuroscience PhD, I completed my doctoral research in a biomedical engineering lab, where I developed advanced technical skills and learned to communicate effectively across interdisciplinary teams at the intersection of research, medicine, and engineering. With a background in coding and scientific writing, I am passionate about medical communication and the ways technology can support the development of diagnostics and treatments that advance precision medicine. I currently work in medical affairs, where I translate complex scientific information for diverse audiences, with a primary focus on health care providers and key opinion leaders.

Thank you to Omnia and Sarah for joining me as co-Captains. We hope to help the community sustain itself and grow as we enter into 2026. The regular news letter will be in tomorrow.

Thank you,

AJ Adejare
